Children and young people are more sensitive to ultrasound waves and indeed may actually hear a portion of the sound output from Yard Gard.

While we would not recommend anyone who hears the unit sitting within range, as this is not an enjoyable experience, the unit is designed so that the output is below the threshold to cause any damage to hearing or other physical harm.

The sound is not pleasant but the volume is well under any level of intensity (loudness, decibels) that would cause injury, whether or not it is "heard."
