Gehoorschade door kattenverjager

Bericht door mosquito » 14-11-2014 22:27

The company Pigeon Patrol, in Canada, advertises these products:

1) Tubesonic

The "tubesonic" is at http://www.pigeonpatrol.ca/wp-content/u ... ic_pdf.pdf and for sale on eBay.

The "tubesonic" is being advertised to deter teenagers as well as birds/animals. At the very end of the product details you will notice that it admits humans can be affected by the units, stating:

"Humans, pet cats or dogs are not affected by the units, unless extremely close to the unit, straight level with the unit or exposed for a long period of time to the unit. A mild headache might result if directly exposed to a unit for a long period of time."

With volumes advertised up to 140 dB this is clearly a very powerful device indeed, and noting that this can be used against teenagers without any precautions is worrying. It does not mention any potential for ear damage, unlike less powerful models.

2) Ultrasonic Balcony (Impact)

Ultrasonic Balcony (Impact) from Pigeon Patrol is advertised here
http://www.pigeonpatrol.ca/wp-content/u ... ct_pdf.pdf

The lowest frequency is said to be 15 kHz, which travels furthest and is therefore recommended, is nowhere near ultrasonic. It can be heard by many, especially vulnerable children who cannot articulate the cause of their distress if they are exposed to it for a long time.

The device admits it can cause ear damage: "Ear damage may occur if exposed for an extended time at a distance of less than 10 feet."
